Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are nervously biting their fingernails as talkSPORT reveal that Raheem Sterling will not sign the proposed new contract offered to him.
This comes after his manager, Brendan Rodgers yesterday labelled the offer on the table as ‘incredible’.
The Reds boss has always remained passionate about keeping Sterling’s ego on the ground and has wanted the youngster to sign a realistic deal instead of a lucrative contract.
But it seems as though the new ‘incredible’ offer is not enough for the 20-year-old after negotiations which have stretched on for over a month.
Despite Sterling having two years remaining on his current agreement, his future is still in doubt following rumoured interest from Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.
And it is expected that if the Reds cannot agree a deal by the end of the season, then Los Blancos will make a move for the youngster.
Some punters believe that his future at the club will depend on where the Reds finish in the table this 2014/15 Premier League season.
