Liverpool fans are looking up with hope in their eyes here in the Football Transfer Tavern after they hear the latest gossip come from the Liverpool Echo, with the publication claiming that Raheem Sterling has been urged to pen a new deal with the club.
This is after Jordan Henderson had already signed his deal worth around £100,000 per week, and it was Henderson himself who has spoken out and urged Sterling to follow in his footsteps and also sign the new contract.
The midfielder claimed: ‘He has just got to do whatever he thinks is best but, if I was giving him advice, of course I would say: ‘This is Liverpool’. I think this is the best place for him.’
We don’t think that Henderson’s words are really what Sterling has been waiting for – rather an improved offer from the Liverpool board – so it probably won’t make all that much difference in our opinion, and we still think a summer move for Sterling could well be on the cards.
