Its expected to be a busy summer both in the Football Transfer Tavern and at Liverpool and today Goal.com report that Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic could be a summer arrival at Anfield after he told Bosnian reporters that he expects to be playing for the Reds next season.
Speculation continues about current first choice keeper Pepe Reina with reports growing that he could be set for a move back to Spain with Barcelona as a replacement for Victor Valdes.
Begovic could act as a suitable replacement after consistent performances between the sticks for the Potters this season. Stoke have already made plans for when the Bosnian departs after signing Jack Butland from Birmingham City in January and Begovic hopes that a switch to Liverpool is in the pipeline.
He told the Bosnian media: “I want to start preparing on July 10, with all the players of Liverpool”, as quoted by The Telegraph.
The 25-year-old has received interest from Manchester United and Arsenal during the season and picked up the Player of the Year award at Stoke City’s recent end of year dinner.
With Begovic hoping for a switch to Anfield, he may replace Reina who has admitted that he would not be against a move back to Barcelona.
“Rumours are difficult to control but it’s flattering when a club like Barca are interested in you,” Reina told Cadena Ser.
“I don’t know if there has been contact between the clubs or with my agent. At the moment I don’t think there’s anything serious.”
