As we all know here in the Football Transfer Tavern by now, Liverpool are looking for at least one defender this summer and according to Metro, Toulouse’s Aymen Abdennour is top of their list.
The club are preparing for life after Jamie Carragher who is set to retire this season and are casting their eyes around for another defender to come into the club and create their own legacy.
Despite there being serious competition for Tunisian international Abdennour most notably from Barcelona, Brendan Rodgers feels that the desire for a move to the Premier League will win out for the defender and a move to Anfield is a distinct possibility.
At 23-years-old the defender is young enough to still improve and it is felt that with a £5 million asking price, Liverpool will be getting more than a bargain for the Tunisian. Of course the club are still sweating over the future of Luis Suarez after not only a host of interest in the player but also controversy and suspensions marring an otherwise brilliant season for the Uruguayan.
