Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are diverting their attention to other striking targets having missed the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku’s decision to join Manchester United rather than the champions, Chelsea, comes as a fresh blow for Antonio Conte in his pursuit for a new striker. With Diego Costa’s intention to leave the club being public knowledge, Conte has been relentlessly pursuing replacements for the Spaniard.

It was expected throughout the entirety of the summer, that Lukaku would re-join Chelsea. Nonetheless, contrary to expectations, the 24-year-old chose to reunite with Mourinho at Old Trafford.

This has left the champions in a rather precarious situation. With Costa’s departure imminent, Conte must now pursue other attacking options or risk endangering his side’s chances of success this season. Alvaro Morata

The Spaniard is the most likely option that Conte will choose to pursue according to reports in the press. Morata is allegedly displeased with the lack of playing time he’s receiving with the Spanish giants, and despite winning the La Liga and Champions League last season, it seems that Morata is keen to depart the Spanish capital.

The 24-year-old scored 20 goals for Real Madrid last season, and that was attained despite featuring predominantly as a substitute. Morata is highly regarded for his startling link-up and build-up play; he’s able to hold the ball well and utilise his impressive passing ability.

Andrea Belotti

Last season was unquestionably a breakthrough year for the 23-year-old. Belotti scored an astounding total of 28 goals in all competitions for Torino, and that included 26 Serie A goals. It is vital to consider the service he was given at Torino, with more skilled and refined players surrounding Belotti at Stamford Bridge – it is likely that he’ll score even more.

To many he is viewed as the complete striker, he can score with his head or with either foot. Additionally, he isn’t fearful of applying pressure on opposing defenders and chasing them down. The question is if Belotti could emulate the success he achieved in Italy in England.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The 28-year-old scored a stunning total of 40 goals in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund, including 31 Bundesliga goals, as the Gabon striker pipped Robert Lewandowski to become the league’s top scorer. His career tally of goals is marvellous, 175 in 371 games, and his arrival would be of tremendous benefit to Chelsea.

Dortmund’s striker is likely to fit into the champions’ style of play, considering the counter-attacking threat that Aubameyang poses. His finishing is terrific, and his presence would enhance the quality of most attacks in Europe.
