It’s been a nightmare season for Crystal Palace.

The fans in the Transfer Tavern have been shielding their eyes every time their games appear on the Tavern TVs things have been so bad.

The sacking of Alan Pardew has lead to Sam Allardyce taking the reign and so far it has not been going well.

However, Palace are a club that can turn their fortunes around. All they need are a couple of players that can take the struggling side out of the relegation zone and back into mid table security.

With the January transfer window coming to a close it’s now more important than ever before to secure some last minute signings before time runs out with the Palace fans downing a few pints, praying that they wont be in the Championship next year.

So, with that in mind, here are two players that could save Crystal Palace’s season according to our landlord…

Phil Jagielka

Palace’s defence this season has made many punters in the Tavern shudder by the bar.

The Everton man could make a move in the January transfer window and going to Crystal Palace would give him the first-team football he’s not got this year. By buying an experienced centre-back Palace can make sure that silly defensive errors are fixed and hopefully clean sheets will be kept for the rest of 2017.

Tom Cairney

You look at Palace’s squad and think: ‘They’ve got talented players but not many that are going to roll their sleeves up and have a battle.’

Indeed, Sam Allardyce knows all too well how important it is to have those battlers in his squad and he certainly needs to get some in soon. Tom Cairney could be ideal from Fulham as he’s shown himself to be a leader on the pitch as well as a hard worker and could be available for a reasonable price.
