Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have good reason to feel excited as there are whispers suggesting the potential signing of the ‘next Sergio Aguero’.
Blues scouts were in Buenos Aires on Wednesday night to see the Argentinian starlet and were impressed once again by the potential of the young striker.
Correa is widely considered as one of the hottest, young prospects in South America and it is understood that his performances had also attracted the attention of Barcelona, Napoli and Arsenal in the past.
Due his nationality, and emergence at Atletico Madrid, Correa has often been likened to Premier League superstar Aguero.
Correa began his senior career with San Lorenzo in 2013, making 49 appearances and scoring 10 goals in his first professional season. Atletico Madrid were quickly on the scene to snap up the talented frontman and in May 2014, Correa agreed to sign for a reported €7.5 million.
However, Correa was sidelined for six months due to a heart tumour, a devastating blow for a young player with the potential to go far. Thankfully, Correa managed to recover, his absence only making him determined to come back stronger and eventually he made his debut for Atletico in August 2015 in a 1-0 home victory against UD Las Palmas.
Now that Angel Correa is fit to play and could be potentially firing on all cylinders, City boss, Manuel Pelligrini, will be keen to secure the services of the Argentinian wonder kid, well aware of how far he could go in football.
