Manchester City are still in the mix to win multiple trophies this season and this weekend furthered their progression in the FA Cup.
The Cityzens are embroiled in a challenging Premier League title race with Arsenal and will face their competitors in the Carabao Cup final later this month.
City were also drawn in the Champions League to face Real Madrid in the round of sixteen and will travel to the Bernabeu for the first leg of their clash on Wednesday evening, so Pep Guardiola will be feeling the pressure to lead his squad to success over the coming weeks.
There is real potential for the treble winners to re-establish their dominance over the next few months, but they are equally at risk of going trophyless after a string of disappointing and inconsistent performances this season.
The injection of fresh perspectives in January has been a huge boost for City, as Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi have brought huge quality and the Premier League experience that has helped them quickly establish themselves as starters.
In the summer, there will likely be more development and reinvestment into the next generation of success for City and the success of their Premier League acquisitions in January is likely to influence where they attack the market.
According to Football Insider, Man City are “nailed on” to sign Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento this summer.
Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness claims to have spoken to agents and has been told that Livramento will play for Man City next season.
Wyness revealed:
“Yes, very much so. I think that’s pretty much nailed on as far as I’m aware.
“I heard from somebody the other day. I talked to an agent who said that it’s going to be happening. They did expect that sort of big number around the £70m mark, which is a big number, as we say, breaking the record.
“But I think he’s the right one for City. I think he’s a talented player, and it helps Newcastle fill the coffers.”
Will Newcastle sell Tino Livramento?

There is no doubt that there has been a long-term interest in Livramento from City, but Newcastle have always been reluctant to part ways with their talent.
The right-back position is an area that will be a priority for the title chasers to target in the summer, since they are yet to find Kyle Walker’s successor, which has meant midfielder Matheus Nunes has had to cover.
The only sticking point would be Livramento’s injury record, as he has had frequent lengthy absences during his time on Tyneside and suffered an ACL injury at Southampton.
Indeed, when fit, the 23-year-old England international is arguably one of the most talented and influential full-backs in the Premier League and, with the ability to play both sides of the defensive set-up, he would be a versatile option for City.
There is a good chance that Livramento will head to the World Cup in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad this summer should he be fit and ready, so no approach or negotiations are likely to take place before he returns.
Beyond that, any deal will heavily depend on Newcastle’s financial situation and their intentions in the transfer market as to whether they would listen to offers for Livramento.
With that being said, it will be a significant investment for City and one of the biggest deals for a full-back in history if the two clubs come to an agreement of around £70m.
Given the club’s desperation for reinforcements on the right flank, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them commit the funds to get the deal over the line, as Livramento could be a key component in future-proofing the success on the blue side of Manchester.
