Man City vs Monaco: Chelsea and Man United fans delighted with star’s performance

Chelsea and Manchester United punters in the Transfer Tavern are still chewing the fat on last night’s eight-goal thriller in the Champions league.

Monaco looked well on course for an upset against Manchester City at the interval, bagging two away goals to finish the first half 2-1 up.

But Pep Guardiola’s Citizens grew into the match as it went on and managed to overturn the scores after half-time in an unforgettable 5-3 affair at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite leaving the first leg with a two-goal deficit, however, Monaco have been widely praised for a relentless attacking performance that saw them pepper the City goal throughout – also missing a penalty that would have made the score 3-1 and forcing a top-class save from Willy Caballero late on.

Talented youngster Bernardo Silva particularly stood out, completing six successful dribbles and creating one chance before being taken off with six minutes to spare.

The prodigious Portuguese has been heavily aligned with a move to Chelsea this week, with The Times reporting on discussions over a potential £70million summer deal.

Following that revelation, Blues patrons in the Tavern were delighted with Silva’s performances last night – as were Chelsea fans on Twitter…

But it’s my no means a one-horse race for the 22-year-old’s signature. Le10Sport claim Manchester United already have a first refusal option on the attacker and much like Chelsea fans, United supporters are excited by the idea of Silva joining their club in the summer…
