Alexis Sanchez has left Manchester United on a free transfer to join Inter Milan on a three-year deal.
Sanchez, who has spent the past year on loan with the Serie A side, will receive some compensation from the Red Devils after agreeing to abandon the last two years of his contract, which were reportedly worth £560,000-a-week.
After arriving in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Arsenal, it’s a shame that it never worked out for the 132-cap Chile international, as he turned out to be a complete flop at Old Trafford, having only scored five goals in 45 games in all competitions.
Is Alexis Sanchez a Man United flop?
Yes
No
Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the news after the Red Devils came from behind to beat Austrian side LASK Linz 2-1 in the Europa League at the Theatre of Dreams, with Anthony Martial coming off the bench to score the winner in the closing stages of the game on Wednesday night.
Naturally, many United fans gushed over his departure on social media, with one supporter exclaiming “hallelujah” and another saying they are delighted that Solskjaer has started to get rid of the “deadwood”.

Hallelujah. We’ve waited so long for this… Amazing, shame we couldn’t sell him for a big fee but it’s worked out well in the end.

Glad he’s gone, sad it didn’t work out. He, Young or Lukaku bound to score against us when/if we play each other in the semi/final.
