Manchester United are working on bringing Thiago Almada to Old Trafford, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add to the growing pool of youngsters at his disposal, including the likes of first team regulars Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, and the Argentine teenager is at the top of his shortlist.
Ed Woodward has made contact with Velez Sarsfield and the club are negotiating behind the scenes to reach an agreement for Almada. Arsenal, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation (TEAMtalk).
After graduating from the Small Fort academy, the 19-year-old has dazzled the crowds at the Estadio José Amalfitani, making 12 appearances in the Superliga for Mauricio Pellegrino’s side, scoring four goals, taking 1.2 shots per game, averaging 1.3 key passes and successfully completing 1.7 dribbles on average (WhoScored). He has a release clause of £22m in his contract (via Daily Express) and the starlet is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt.
As expected, many Red Devils fans waxed lyrical about Almada on Twitter, with one fan saying he is “similar to Messi” and another adding the move should be a “no brainer.”
