Manchester United: Fans react as Dean Henderson is told he will not be loaned out

Henderson

It is being reported that Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will not be loaned out for the 2020/21 season and will be battling David De Gea for the number one spot, according to Manchester Evening News, via utdreport, prompting plenty of reaction from the club’s fan base.

The report added that he has been discussing this with the club and has agreed to stay at the Red Devils for the season, despite him probably having to settle as De Gea’s understudy for the campaign.

There is no doubting the quality of the 23-year-old, who was recently called up to the England squad again by Gareth Southgate, as last season he managed 13 clean sheets in the Premier League for Sheffield United and also made 97 saves (including one from a penalty).

However, the reaction to him not getting another loan move has caused some debate among the Red Devil fan base as they believe he should be playing consistently, whilst others are worried about whether the competition between him and De Gea will be healthy or not.

Here is what these fans said following the news:

As expected, Dean Henderson will not be loaned out for the 2020/21 season and is set to stay at Manchester United to battle it out with David de Gea

De Gea era is over this season. What a player he’s been for us, a club legend despite recent seasons.

That’s a good new to hear and this will wake up David de Gea back from he’s sleep.
