Several Manchester United fans have expressed disappointment with Wayne Rooney’s latest comments on the upcoming FA Cup game against Derby County.
Speaking in an exclusive interview via the club’s official website, the Red Devils legend admitted he will celebrate if he scores against his former club.
“My time at Manchester United, I loved every minute of it. I am a Derby County player and I want to win with Derby County. For that 90 minutes, or 120 minutes, obviously I want Manchester United to lose.”
The ex-England international made 559 appearances in total for United, scoring a staggering tally of 253 goals and creating 146 assists across all competitions. Rooney won an astonishing 5 Premier League titles, 1 Champions League trophy, 1 Europa League trophy, 4 English League Cups and 1 FA Cup during his 13-year-spell at Old Trafford (Transfermarkt).
The 34-year-old faces former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the opposing dugout after joining the Rams in January as a player-coach. Rooney has made 14 appearances for Derby this season, bagging 4 goals and providing 2 assists.
