Manchester United have made some major mistakes in the past but signing Alexis Sanchez must be one of Ed Woodward’s biggest regrets so far.
Man United had high hopes for Sanchez after he arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal in 2018, having beaten Manchester City to his signature. Sadly, the Chilean has turned out to be a real disappointment.
According to The Telegraph, as per @utdreport, removing Sanchez from the club’s wage bill is a top priority for Woodward in the summer. James Ducker wrote that the forward currently earns £400,000-a-week excluding bonuses, despite the fact he has only scored five times in 45 games for the Red Devils. United are paying part of his wages while he is on loan at Inter Milan.
Who should Man United sell?
Alexis Sanchez
Jesse Lingard
Phil Jones
The 31-year-old has been beset by multiple injuries, although that doesn’t excuse his dramatic slump in form.
Sanchez has spent the past season on loan at the San Siro and he seems to have turned things around under Antonio Conte, starring with a goal and two assists as the Nerrazzuri thumped Brescia 6-0 in the Serie A earlier this month. Regardless, he has fallen out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is expected to leave the Theatre of Dreams in the summer.
Unsurprisingly, many United fans slammed Sanchez after the news emerged, with one supporter stating that “he’s finished” while another urged the board to “get him out ASAP.” One fan even added that it is a “massive L” if anyone wants him back.
