Jurgen Klopp has enjoyed a thoroughly successful transfer window so far, but the moment he begins to count his chickens is the moment Liverpool surrender their title challenge, so he must continue his positive work during the final fortnight of the window by completing a handful of deals.
After spending almost £200 million on new players, Liverpool will presumably need to offload players to balance the books this summer, but that should not prevent them from working on further acquisitions. The goalkeeping problem has been emphatically resolved with the signing of Alisson Becker from Roma in a world-record breaking deal, but they could still benefit from the arrival of at least one more quality defender before the window is over.
With plenty of players reportedly up for sale, Klopp could use a portion of incoming funds to bolster his options ahead of the new season. Considering the success Manchester City enjoyed investing in their defensive unit last season, it would certainly be wise for Liverpool to follow suit.

With Roberto Firmino firmly ahead of him in the pecking order, first-team opportunities will be scarce for Ings next season, and on the back of a multi-million pound spending spree Liverpool could do with bringing in £20 million from somewhere.

Liverpool’s defensive unit looks considerably stronger now than it did at this time last season, but Alberto Moreno remains a notable weak link within their ranks.
Andrew Robertson’s arrival at Liverpool was one of the signings of the season made by anyone in the Premier League, but Klopp needs to provide him with genuine competition to help him step up a gear next season.
Moreno cannot provide that, but Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw certainly possesses the potential to go head-to-head with Robertson for a starting berth.
