Man United & Liverpool’s ‘combined XI’ of the season

utdliv.jpgThis season two teams have endured somewhat contrasting times. Finishing above Manchester City and winning a 20th title to boot in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season is no small achievement and Manchester United fans are more than a little bit satisfied with their season. Liverpool fans however are facing the fact that they are set to finish below rivals Everton for the second consecutive season and are quite simply not as good as the teams who finish in the top five of the Premier League.

Add to this the fact that two high profile forwards are looking at uncertain futures for both the teams and you finally find something that the long time bitter rivals have in common.

Wayne Rooney looks like being sold this season and could even be off to rivals Chelsea – something that would go down like a lead balloon at Old Trafford. On Merseyside, Luis Suarez is considering making a move away from the club who have stood by him through thick and thin and could well be set to join the very club Wayne Rooney made eyes at – Pep Guardiola’s soon to be Bayern Munich.

Despite vastly differing seasons in terms of success and trophies, not to mention league position, both sides have top class players in their first eleven and here are the top players in both sides in our combined starting eleven of the season.
