Manchester United: Marcos Rojo will return to Red Devils after his loan spell expires

Premier League - Newcastle United v Manchester United

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo will return to Old Trafford when his loan deal runs out, according to Estudiantes manager Leandro Desabato.

Rojo is currently on loan at his boyhood club Estudiantes de La Plata after agreeing a move in January, having fallen out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United have tried to sell the veteran in four of the past five summer transfer windows but have been unsuccessful in their attempts so far.

Instead, he returned to Argentina on loan until the end of June, but has only played once for Los Pincharratas due to persistent injury. He is eager to extend his stay in his homeland as he is not a part of Solskjaer’s future plans.

Desabato told Radio Late 931 (as relayed by TEAMtalk) that he is keen for the Argentine to stay but revealed that he will most likely return to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer. The head coach said: “We have to wait, but Rojo is likely to leave. The loan is due, and if Manchester do not want to continue loaning, it’s understandable.”

As it stands, Rojo will rejoin his parent club before the start of next season, although his future remains uncertain. Indeed, his contract with the Red Devils is set to expire next year but the board may be prepared to cash in on the centre-back as he will be below the likes of Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order.

Moreover, United have reportedly set their valuation for the Argentine international. Ed Woodward values Rojo at around £9.5m and is ready to sell the defender if the right offer arrives.

United fans, do you think the board should sell Marcos Rojo in the summer? Let us know down below!
