The Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been spoilt over the last week or so. Indeed, the club announced deals for the likes of Fred and Diogo Dalot as their summer window clicked into gear ahead of the World Cup, the kind of new deals to go down a storm amongst our resident Red Devils.
Well, as if that wasn’t good enough, reports from the Sun have had them all but dancing on the pool tables. According to them, power brokers at Old Trafford are keen on sitting down with Marcus Rashford over the prospect of a new deal after the World Cup.
A hugely popular figure, the 20-year-old hasn’t always enjoyed a starting role under Jose Mourinho, despite his obvious talent. Still, it’s easy to see why so many people believe Rashford to be the future for both club and country, so United chiefs are reportedly keen to start talks about boosting his current £80k-p/w salary to £130k.
As you can imagine, our United-mad punters are going crazy about these reports and hope a deal is done as soon as humanly possible.
Landlord’s Verdict:
It’s an important deal for United, in more ways than one. Getting Rashford secured would undoubtedly sort out any issues that might come up in regards to his future, as well as placing faith in him. Indeed, Mourinho has never really convinced in charge of United, though securing this kind of agreement under his watch would go some way into proving he’s thinking of the future.
