Manchester United have been handed a major boost in the race to sign Jadon Sancho this summer.
The Red Devils have been chasing Sancho for more than three years now, with seemingly no end in sight.
Sancho has told Borussia Dortmund that he wants to return to England, via ESPN. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the winger as his top target amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
Reports have now claimed that Man United are the only club he will be able to join in the summer. According to Bild, as per talkSPORT, Dortmund will let the Englishman leave for £117m. Liverpool have also thrown their hat into the mix, but United are apparently his only possible destination.
The 20-year-old, who is BVB’s top scorer this season, has scored 17 goals and supplied 16 assists in the Bundesliga so far, although Lucien Favre has missed out on the coveted title.
However, everything hangs in the balance as the forward wants to wait and see who will qualify for the Champions League before making up his mind.
Solskjaer’s side are currently fifth in the Premier League, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, with eight games remaining. Nevertheless, fifth spot may be enough to clinch a place in the competition if Man City lose their appeal against a two-year ban from UEFA competitions.
Ed Woodward has previously preached caution, saying that it is unrealistic for fans to expect the board to spend heavily in these uncertain times.
Clubs around the world are facing mounting financial problems as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the Bundesliga giants will not change their minds on their valuation. Fans will have to wait and see if United will be able to pay the price that Dortmund are demanding.
