Man United should seriously consider moving for £16.2m-rated Arsenal man this summer, here’s why…

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a fair few midfielders through the doors of Old Trafford in the summer.

Jose Mourinho is possibly losing two of his midfielders in the summer, as Michael Carrick is retiring and Marouane Fellaini looks likely to be leaving on a free. Our regulars in the tap room are expecting United to bring in at least two replacements if this happens.

One name that has been linked with United is Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, who could possibly be available on a free transfer if contract negotiations break down from now to the end of the season.

The £16.2m rated midfielder could be a very shrewd transfer in on Mourinho’s part, costing nothing and again taking another player from one of their rivals, much like Alexis Sanchez. Our landlord takes a look at two reasons why United and the board should seriously consider going for Wilshere this summer…

Potential

At 26, Wilshere is still a few years away from his prime time in footballing terms. After seeing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain progress so much since leaving the Gunners for Liverpool in the summer, Wilshere has all the attributes to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Under the right guidance and management, the English midfielder could go on to have a very successful career at Old Trafford and offer something completely different to what they currently have.

Experience

Many in the bar forget that Wilshere is still only 26, having seemingly been around for a lot longer. With breaking through into the Arsenal first team at an early age, the experience Wilshere can bring to United is in abundance.

From playing in Europe to winning cups and playing for England, furthermore, we mustn’t forget going on loan at Bournemouth for a season. With all that in mind, Wilshere could turn out to be one of Mourinho’s shrewdest signings to date.
