Harry Maguire has been checking up with Manchester United players every day to see how they are coping with lockdown, via The Times.
Maguire is also reportedly one of the most vocal players in the squad’s WhatsApp group, and the defender is attempting to keep morale high during the coronavirus pandemic. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointed the England international as club captain after Ashley Young left the club in January and it is fair to say he has quickly grown into the leadership role.
Ever since he arrived at Old Trafford from Leicester City for £78.3m last year, the Englishman has really asserted his authority at the back, making a whopping 4.6 clearances per game, completing 1.8 interceptions, and attempting at least one tackle per game on average in the Premier League this season.
Unsurprisingly, after fan page @utdreport shared the news on social media, loads of Red Devils took to Twitter to gush over the gesture from the “great leader”, as one fan gleefully exclaimed his actions are “outrageous,” and another added he has “been brilliant so far.”
