Manchester United historically have a stunning reputation when it comes to producing the next generation star.

At the club currently, a number of top talents have been earmarked as future stars and have our United fan regulars here at the Tavern very excited.

It may not be the class of ’92 but United’s academy prospects have become even better in recent years.

The club somehow manage to achieve great things on the field and not since 1937 have United not had a youth academy player in their match-day squad.

The team’s progression may have been halted since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson but the progression of youth remains the symbol of believe at Old Trafford.

Here are TWO particular loanees our landlord is very excited about and expects to become stars at the club when they return….

Andreas Pereira

The Brazil Under-23 international is currently spending the campaign in Spain with Granada.

The midfielder made 13 appearances during Louis van Gaal’s time in charge and moved to Spain in search of first-team football.

Pereira is the dynamic midfielder United have been missing since Paul Scholes departed the club.

He’s certainly a raw talent but he has the potential to become an icon at United.

Pereira has also featured for Jose Mourinho in pre-season against Wigan.

James Wilson

The 20-year-old, who has scored four goals in 20 first-team appearances for the Reds, joined Derby County on loan in August. Wilson has shown his capabilities in-front of goal, and recently drew similarities to Alan Shearer.

United’s forwards are not getting any younger with only Marcus Rashford younger than the age of 30.

Wilson can return to United and replace the departing Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season once his apprenticeship at Derby is completed.

Wilson is not a by-stander and is desperate to gain a place in Jose Mourinho’s team.
