A number of Manchester United fans have criticised Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s continued selection of Daniel James in his starting line-up following their goalless draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Neither side took the game by the scruff of the neck, with both sides sitting back and allowing their opponents the ball in their own half for large spells of the game, which meant both sides maintained solid shapes and opportunities were few and far between.
James particularly struggled to make much of a positive influence on the match, with the forward giving away possession on eight occasions as well as failing to register a shot or a cross throughout the 58 minutes he was on the field (Sofascore).

The Wales international has not been able to find his form so far this campaign and he is averaging just 0.3 successful dribbles per match and just 0.7 shots per game (Sofascore). Considering United have the likes of Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani to call upon, it does seem that James could need to come out of the firing line.

Such a frustrating game. Rashford, but for 2 chances, was absent all game. James offered nothing. Fernandes drifted throughout.
Shaw is not a LB. He’s better as LCB in back 3. Telles must start.
