Ask any Manchester United fan in the Football Transfer Tavern if they enjoyed last season, you will get a half-hearted answer of enthusiasm but at the same time a dull response. 

The Red Devils may have failed to live up to expectations of reaching the top four following the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, however, reaching the Champions League was the ultimate aim and that is what they achieved.

Possibly by the wrong way with the distraction of Europa League football, but nevertheless it’s another piece of silverware added to the crowded trophy cabinet and we’re sure many supporters will welcome it to the club.

Moving onto summer business, our United-mad punters hopes Jose Mourinho focuses on the squad’s defence, which conceded the highest number of goals in the Premier League’s top-five last season.

Alejandro Grimaldo

Alejandro Grimaldo is arguably one of the rising talents in the Portuguese league, swiftly becoming the first-choice left-back option at giants Benfica following his 21 appearances in all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign.

The 21 year-old played alongside Manchester United signing Victor Lindelof and would be a suitable acquisition for the Red Devils this summer transfer window.

One current Old Trafford defender who’s frustrated our United-mad punters is Luke Shaw. He is struggling to live up to the potential he has and possibly needs shifting out of the club for his own good.

Marquinhos

Eric Bailly has been a solid centre-half for Jose Mourinho this season after arriving at Old Trafford last summer and needs a quality defender beside him to build a formidable back line at the heart of defence and offer competition to Lindelof.

Brazilian man Marquinho, who plays for French outfit Paris Saint-Germain, is becoming top drawer so Man United need to bring the 23 year-old imminently.

This could be the signing that seriously improves the Red Devils’ defence and Mourinho seriously needs to swoop for the 12-capped international to reinforce the squad.
