Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are beginning to show more faith in Louis van Gaal heading into next summer as talkSPORT revealed he is plotting an £18 million move for Lazio’s Stefan de Vrij.
You may recognise his name from his inspirational defensive performances at the World Cup for Holland under van Gaal.
And it looks as though the former Dutch boss is looking to his trusty defender to strengthen the back line at Old Trafford.
Despite United’s hot form recently, there are still question marks surrounding their defence, and it seems to be a top priority for van Gaal to fix.
The 23-year-old in question only joined Lazio last summer following his impressive performances in Brazil after moving from Feyenoord for £7m.
This has amused punters because van Gaal could of saved the club £11m and some of the defensive errors from this season if they had signed him last summer!
