Manchester United fans are looking up here in the Football Transfer Tavern and after we hear from our landlord just what Metro are saying, we do not blame them.
According to the publication, Louis van Gaal has decided that Pepe is a player worth considering as the January transfer window approaches and we understand why.
Whilst the Real Madrid defender can divide opinion in terms of his actions at times and indeed ability to pick up red cards, we think that he is first and foremost a defender – and that he would certainly add something to the United back line.
Currently playing as a first choice centre back under Carlo Ancelotti, Pepe is aware that Raphael Varane is breathing down his neck and could well replace him in the line up should he get injured or go through a poor spell of form.
Pepe is of course only one option for Van Gaal, who is also reportedly considering moves for Miranda on the other side of the Spanish capital and Mats Hummels.
