Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are ecstatic, with talkSPORT revealing how their presence is causing chaos at Southampton as Nathaniel Clyne threatens to force a move through to join Luke Shaw.
This has now meant that Ronald Koeman and the staff behind the scenes at St Mary’s are trying their best to make Clyne sign a new contract.
The 23-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season and the club on the south coast risk losing him on a free to the Red Devils.
It is becoming more and more likely that the young full back will look to exit the club as their performances are beginning to drop off the pace, as they begin to slip out of the race for the top four.
Whilst United, despite their lacklustre performances, sit in third and look very likely to qualify for the Champions League.
And Louis van Gaal wants the defender maybe just as much as Clyne wants the move to the Theatre of Dreams.
This has led to Koeman becoming concerned by the situation and hopes talks will be wrapped up in two weeks.
Koeman said: ‘The contact is between Les Reed and the agent and Clyne, but I think after Wednesday it’s a good time to talk about that – of course, we like to know what his decision is about the future.’
