Following Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, Red Devils supporters have been up in arms over youngster Daniel James’ display at Anfield – taking to social media and hammering the Welshman for his seemingly minuscule contribution to proceedings.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side fell behind when Virgil Van Dijk blasted a header past the on-looking David De Gea to give the home side a deserved lead, with United arguably fortunate to get away with not conceding a second when VAR intervened with Roberto Firmino’s goal due to a foul on the Spanish keeper.
From there, United had huge moments, with both Andreas Pereira and Anthony Martial missing golden opportunities to equalise for the Red Devils. Unfortunately for them, efforts to make it 1-1 proved fruitless, with Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah breaking away to make it 2-0 in the last minute.
According to some United supporters, James should’ve fouled the Egyptian to halt his chances of scoring in on goal, with a lot of them taking to social media and hammering his ‘average’ displays recently.
The 22-year-old, who had the worst WhoScored.com rating out of any Red Devils player (5.9), also didn’t manage a single shot on goal in place of the injured Marcus Rashford – perhaps giving some credit to the claims he had a poor afternoon. Here’s what supporters had to say regarding the former Swansea City man on Twitter.
James cannot be starting for us, he is a sqaud player and average at the moment. We need to strengthen

Dan James was the worst player on the pitch today. How he wasn’t taken out is mind blowing to me.

James thinks football is about running only to found out that it requires a bit of brain too

Salah held him off as if he was an annoying little cousin. Shocking defending.
