Manchester United are eager to close the gap on Premier League champions Liverpool as quickly as possible.
While the front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood made all the headlines after thumping Bournemouth over the weekend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will no doubt be aware he will need to blend youth with experience if his side are to challenge for silverware next season.
Man United have already extended Odion Ighalo’s stay at Old Trafford and now it seems another veteran will be staying for even longer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, as relayed by @utdreport, Nemanja Matic has reportedly signed a new contract with the Red Devils, keeping him at the club until 2023.

Matic was initially linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams after falling out of favour with Solskjaer earlier this season.
However, the Serbian is the only specialist in the defensive midfield position, which explains why Ed Woodward offered him a new deal.
The 31-year-old has started 12 of the last 14 league games and has turned his form around. Solskjaer stated he is playing the best football of his career since the Premier League restarted last month.
Naturally, many United fans drooled over the “world class” player as the news emerged, with a couple of fans dubbing the extension “perfect” and “massive.”
