Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Mason Greenwood ahead of the Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, via The Athletic.
Greenwood has impressed the Red Devils after being given a chance by Solskjaer, scoring 12 goals in 16 starts under the club legend.
Speaking to Laurie Whitwell, the Norwegian revealed the 18-year-old has bulked up during the nationwide lockdown, adding 3kg of muscle amid the pandemic.
Solskjaer said “Mason is a young boy. He’s still 18 and this lockdown period has done him all the good in the world because, at his age, they do develop and fill out and Mason’s looking more and more like a man, so definitely it will help him.”
Whitwell notes that Greenwood’s ratio is bettered only by Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy, as he scores every 129.4mins.
The teenager has played in 39 games for United this season so far, scoring 14 goals and providing one assist overall. While most of his appearances have come from the bench, he has still scored 5 goals in the Premier League (WhoScored).
He will surely be looking to continue his fine form before the European Championship next year when the Red Devils return behind closed doors this month.
Unsurprisingly, many United fans gushed over the “gargantuan” news, with one fan tweeting the “PL is not ready,” and another adding he is “an absolute unit.”
