Manchester United: Fans delighted as Red Devils enter race to sign Gabriel amid interest from Everton

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes this summer, amid interest from Everton.

According to Sky Sports, as per @utdreport, Man United are monitoring the uncapped Brazil U23 international as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to sign a centre-back to shore up his defence ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

Gabriel, 22, finds himself on the Red Devils’ radar as he fits the profile of the type of player the board are looking to bring to Old Trafford.

Ed Woodward will face very stiff competition from Everton, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, as the Serie A side have reportedly emerged as front-runners as they are currently holding talks with Lille to sort out a deal after signing Victor Osimhen.

He is widely expected to leave the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the summer following the conclusion of the Ligue 1 campaign in April. Christopher Galtier’s side are demanding £20m for their prized asset in the transfer market, which is far cheaper than Solskjaer’s other target Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Brazilian has actually made more tackles and interceptions per league game than club captain Harry Maguire this season (via WhoScored).

Naturally, many United fans gushed over the “bargain” on social media, with one supporter tweeting he is “superb,” while another added he is “better than Maguire” in reference to the aforementioned statistics.
