Manchester United: Fans hail Wayne Rooney as ‘favourite player of the decade’

The conclusion of a decade has prompted many football supporters all over social media to list their club’s best moments, best players and best memories of the 2010s – with these Manchester United fans in particular crowning former star Wayne Rooney as their number one asset of the last ten years.

Rooney, who carved himself into United folklore by becoming their all-time top goal scorer during that time, is seemingly a player worthy of the accolade – especially when taking into account the Englishman bagged 253 goals in 559 appearances for the Red Devils.

Other candidates who were also given a shout for the greatest player of the 2010s were cult heroes like Ander Herrera, Robin Van Persie and David De Gea – but given Rooney’s phenomenal record haul, you could be safe to say that there is barely anyone else who can compete with the 34-year-old’s crowning achievements.
