Since moving to Old Trafford in the summer from Swansea City for a £15 million fee, Manchester United midfielder Daniel James has had a mixed start to his career with the Red Devils – starting brightly but since tailing off – at least according to these supporters.
The Welshman started for United during their latest defeat, a 2-0 loss at the hands of Premier League bottom side Watford, with Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney sealing an unlikely victory for the hosts.
Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire all spurned chances for United to potentially salvage something from an underwhelming performance, but their lack of clinical finishing eventually resulted in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side losing their first league contest since early November.
As a result, due to an arguably dismal display, some United supporters have made the case that James should not be starting games against teams who ‘sit back’.
Here’s how Red Devils fans came to the consensus on Twitter.

He really looked tired, against Newcastle i think it is Mason time, James can be a really useful with his pace from bench, but Greenwood deserves a chance i think

He’s already tiring out

Ole knows it but doesn’t have the guts to play Mata.

I have nothing against Dan James but the reality is that he is what he is, a trier. He gives his all but that all is not the level United require. He should be playing for Watford or Norwich, not at United. All that talk of being improved to world class level is delusion.
