Manchester United: Fans laud Sergio Romero after ESPN reveals Everton and Leeds United want to sign him

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is wanted by Everton and Premier League newcomers Leeds United, reports say.

According to ESPN, as per @utdreport, Everton are trying to find competition for Jordan Pickford while Leeds are preparing for their first season in the English top flight since 2004.

The Red Devils signed the Argentina ‘keeper as a result of the uncertainty over David de Gea in 2015.

Romero, who was a free agent at the time, finds himself in a similar position, although now questions remain over De Gea’s future at Old Trafford for all the wrong reasons.

The Spaniard has come under pressure after making a string of high-profile mistakes but the Argentine has still found himself on the bench.

Who should United sell?

He has not played a single game in the Premier League this season, and was surprisingly left out of the squad that slumped to the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea at Wembley last weekend, despite the fact he had played in every other round up until then.

While Romero has patiently bided his time, as he has only made 59 appearances for the Red Devils overall, he could leave the club in search of more game time in the summer. Remarkably, he has still managed to keep 38 clean sheets.

Unsurprisingly, lots of United fans lauded the loyal “servant” on social media, with one supporter dubbing him “amazing,” and another adding he is “better than De Gea” in reference to the number one keeper’s struggles this season.

Scroll through some of the glowing reactions so far…

Deserves game time. Has been a very good servant for the club. If he wants to go, we should let him!

Wouldn’t begrudge him if he wanted leave for first team football as he’s been excellent servant to club but don’t see him wanting to leave or us wanting to sell him

— Andy Maguire (@andy_maguire) July 24, 2020

been absolutely amazing for us, and he 100% deserves to start 1st regular football

— Jadon Grealish💸 (@Sancho7SZN) July 24, 2020

Better than De Gea , at this rate at least. Class substitute, shouldn’t let him go if we can help it.

— Mohawk Watch (@mohawkwatch) July 24, 2020

Romero would be brilliant for both. He’d oust Pickford in no time

— Mateo Izioli (@izioli_mateo) July 24, 2020

honestly for the sake of his career. he should leave. hes way too good a keeper to sit on the bench. for the entire season. however, id sell to a team outside the league and certainly not leeds.

He deserves better than being benched almost all games since the restart. Started 1 game, was robbed of playing in semi final. If that happens prefer to sell abroad or Everton. Then give Dean the cup games to prepare for no. 1 later on

United fans, should Woodward sell Romero in the summer? Let us know down below!
