Sections of the Manchester United fan base aren’t at all happy with the comments made by former player Gary Neville on the lack of commitment shown by new signing Fred.
Speaking on the Sky Sports podcast Neville, who won eight Premier League titles during his time at United, said Fred is nowhere near showing his value that cost the club £50m in the summer and expected more from him when he made the move from Shakhtar Donetsk, despite making a solid first appearance.
Fred, however, has been snubbed by manager José Mourinho in the majority of United’s matches this season and didn’t feature at all in Sunday’s 3-1 derby loss at Manchester City. Indeed, it seems like a long time ago that he was linked with a move to the Etihad.
The club’s fans have emphasised that Neville’s comments are unfair given the fact that Fred doesn’t receive the needed backing from Mourinho.
