Manchester United fans have been praising Sir Alex Ferguson after a statistic listing the all-time top ten spending managers in football history was revealed.
The Scotsman didn’t feature on the list, with The United Stand host Mark Goldbridge lauding the former Old Trafford favourite for his lack of spending in comparison to the men listed.
Greatest Manager in the World Sir Alex not even on there. There’s levels to that man’s Eliteness https://t.co/T0cQba4Fhu

His most expensive signing while in charge of the club proved to be Rio Ferdinand, who he brought from Leeds United for just over £40m (via Transfermarkt).
Ferguson is widely regarded as one of the best managers football has ever seen with France Football (via The Sun) ranking him in second place in their all-time list.
While he may not rank as the best-ever, he certainly is United’s greatest ever manager having won a mammoth 38 trophies in just 27 years at the north-west club.
Fans were lauding the former Aberdeen coach for his lack of spending in pursuit of glory as they took to Twitter to react.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Old Trafford faithful:

Just wait for some one to mention net spend, because you know…. United under SAF was such a feeder club. He made a success story out of players like Anderson, Jones and Young.
