Manchester United: Fans react as Inter Milan willing to offer players for Chris Smalling

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling looks to be on his way out of the club as he has been heavily linked to AS Roma. However another Serie A side are looking to hijack the deal and a lot of the Red Devils fan base are reacting to this news.

According to calciomercato, and tweeted out by utdreport, Inter Milan are interested in Smalling and are entering the race for him forcefully. Inter are ready to offer one of João Mário, Ivan Perišić or Marcelo Brozović, whilst United are continuing to demand €20m (around £18 million).

Despite him struggling to perform consistently to the level required of a Manchester United player, Smalling flourished last season in Serie A as the 30 year-old managed four clearances and 1.9 interceptions a game, per WhoScored, whilst also scoring three goals and supplying two assists as well as helping his team to keep six clean sheets.

A deal with Inter involving one of the trio offered could be a good move for United as they have been linked with Perisic in this transfer window, so they could get one of their targets, whilst a lot of the fan base would be happy with the prospect of Brozovic joining, and this makes sense as the midfielder seems to be a good impact at both ends of the pitch as he managed three goals, six assists and managed on average 2.1 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game, via WhoScored.
