Manchester United: Fans react as Mason Greenwood gets called up to the England squad

At the start of last season, Mason Greenwood was a young academy star who was starting to make himself noticed at Manchester United.

With the 2019/20 season now over, the attacker, who is only 18, played in 51 games for Manchester United (including 23 substitute appearances), and scored 19 goals as well as providing five assists, via Transfermarkt.

He showcased how good of an attacking threat he can be for the side, and this was proven not just by his goals, but as he also averaged 1.6 shots per game, highlighting that even at his young age he is not worried to try and take an opportunity if he sees one.

Clearly his performances have not just impressed those associated with the Red Devils as he has now received his first call up to the England squad by manager Gareth Southgate.

Utdreport tweeted out the comments made by Southgate following his decision to call up both Greenwood and Phil Foden as he said via England: ‘We felt now is a good time [to move Greenwood & Foden up to the senior England team]. We’re a year away from a European Championship. Let’s see if they can start to break into that squad — they’re realistic challengers.’
