Manchester United are considering Victor Osimhen, Moussa Dembele and Wissam Ben Yedder as striker options in the summer, via le10sport.
According to reports from France, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a prolific goalscorer who can ease the burden on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Odion Ighalo, and Ed Woodward has turned his attentions to Ligue 1 to find a new frontman capable of leading the line.
Lille’s Osimhen is arguably a better solution in the long term, as the Nigerian international is just 21-years-old. After arriving at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy from Belgian outfit RSC Charleroi for £10.8m, he has made a rapid start to his time with the Great Danes, registering 13 goals and picking up 4 assists in his first full season in the French first division. Notably, the youngster scored against Premier League rivals Chelsea during the Champions League, and his experiences of European football could prove valuable (WhoScored).
In contrast, Dembele has made 27 appearances for Rudi Garcia’s Lyon this campaign, bagging 16 goals and providing 2 assists. The 23-year-old moved to the South East from Celtic in the summer of 2018. Ben Yedder has also been a transfer target for United in the past.
All things considered, whether or not the board will actually make a move for any one of the forwards remains to be seen, but the latest update has triggered plenty of debate amongst the Old Trafford faithful.
Unsurprisingly, loads of Red Devils reacted to the club’s interest on Twitter, with many drooling over the link to the ‘ruthless’ Osimhen. One fan commented he is “quality” and another dubbed him as “the real deal.”
