Manchester United: Fans react to Odion Ighalo transfer update

Manchester United are hoping to extend Odion Ighalo’s stay at the Theatre of Dreams but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could still lose him when the season resumes, according to ESPN

Ighalo’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June, and, although United are reluctant to sign him permanently, Ed Woodward is willing to offer Shanghai Shenhua a new loan offer to keep him for when the season finally resumes.

Ever since he arrived at Old Trafford from China in January on a short-term deal, the Nigerian has quickly settled into life at the Red Devils, scoring 4 goals in only 8 appearances for Solskjaer’s side so far (Transfermarkt).

The 30-year-old was initially called in to provide injury cover for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, but he has more than stepped up to the plate, netting 2 goals in 3 games in the Europa League, taking 2.7 shots on average and registering 1.7 dribbles per game (WhoScored). He is valued at £4.68m via Transfermarkt.

Unsurprisingly, loads of United fans reacted to the transfer update online, with one fan exclaiming “good riddance,” and another pleading with the club to “sack Ed.”
