Manchester United: Fans react to Odion Ighalo’s latest setback

Manchester United have failed to agree a deal with Shanghai Shenhua for Odion Ighalo, according to the Evening Standard.

United’s attempts to extend Ighalo’s loan have hit a setback, as the Flower of Shanghai are demanding the Nigerian returns to China for the start of the Chinese Super League season, which means he could have played his last game in the famous Red jersey.

The 30-year-old’s short-term contract is set to expire on May 31, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he wants to keep the forward at Old Trafford until the end of the Premier League campaign. He is currently valued at £4.6m via Transfermarkt, although Ed Woodward is unwilling to orchestrate a permanent move.

After arriving at the Theatre of Dreams from his Chinese parent club, the former Nigeria international made an electric start to his Red Devils career, scoring 4 goals in only 8 appearances for Solskjaer’s side, before his run of form was abruptly cut short by the pandemic.

Popular fan page @ManUnitedZone_ shared the news on social media, prompting lots of replies from the United faithful. One fan tweeted it is a “crying shame,” following his initial comments up with the “streets will never forget Ighalo.”
