Manchester United: Fans react to Red Devils’ interest in Dayot Upamecano

Loads of Manchester United fans have been discussing the news the Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing Dayot Upamecano, according to France Football.

It seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the market for a new centre-back to replace Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo, as it appears their time at Old Trafford is finally coming to an end. United are currently fifth in the Premier League, and although they have conceded the third lowest amount of goals this season, the club legend is determined to add to his defensive options in the summer.

After arriving at RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg for £9m in January 2017, Upamecano has made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga under Julian Nagelsmann, averaging 2.1 tackles per game, providing 1.7 interceptions, and achieving 3.3 clearances so far (WhoScored). The Frenchman is valued at £40.5m via Transfermarkt.

As things stand, Ed Woodward is ahead of English rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to land the 21-year-old, and there is no doubt supporters will be keeping a close eye on the market in the coming months.

Rather surprisingly however, a large portion of the United fan base slammed the transfer update, with several furiously commenting he is worse than another reported target, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Take a look at some of the angriest reactions we could find so far…
