Loads of Manchester United supporters have responded to Samuel Luckhurst’s latest update about Darren Fletcher, via the Manchester Evening News.
The chief football writer reports the former Red Devil has been handed an informal ambassador role at Old Trafford, after all but announcing his retirement from professional football last summer.
Under the guise of his new position, Fletcher is now reunited with his old teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, although he will not be part of the Norwegian’s coaching staff at the moment.
After arriving at United’s famous academy on a free transfer from Tynecastle FC, the Scotsman went on to make over 300 appearances for the Reds, prominently featuring under club legend Sir Alex Ferguson, scoring 24 goals, producing 29 assists, winning the Premier League a whopping five times, as well as famously lifting the Champions League trophy during his twelve-year-spell in the first team (Transfermarkt).
Fletcher spent time as a pundit for the BBC, Sky Sports and beIN SPORTs, before returning to Manchester this month.
As expected, a large portion of the United faithful replied to Luckhurst’s revelation on Twitter, with one fan calling the news “wonderful,” and another labelling the former Scottish international as a “smart man.”

Fletcher is footie mad, he likes to know the scores of every game in every league, there has been talk of bringing him in as director of football, which is a role we currently don’t have, sounds like a good move to me! Welcome back flech
