Manchester United: Fans react to Sunderland’s Joe Hugill’s transfer news

Manchester United have agreed to sign Sunderland’s teenage striker Joe Hugill pending a medical, according the Daily Mail

According to the Mail, the Red Devils have agreed a fee worth £250,000 with the Black Cats for Hugill, who styles himself as a classic target man in the form of centre-forwards of old, and his gameplay could give United a different option in attack.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in young talent to shape the first team going forward, and the 16-year-old striker definitely fits the bill.

He has emerged as one of the Rokerites’ brightest young stars in recent years, scoring 1 goal in just 4 games in the U-18 Premier League this season.

Despite competition from rivals Tottenham Hotspur, United took advantage of the pandemic and made a move for the teenager.

However, he will have to wait some time before he can pass his medical requirements, as both Old Trafford and Carrington training ground are closed as a result of the nationwide lockdown restrictions.

Naturally, a number of the United faithful reacted to Hugill’s transfer news online, with one fan tweeting he is “overhyped,” and another adding the youngster “reminds me of Crouch.”
