Manchester United are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, according to The Times.
Football reporter Gregor Robertson revealed Havertz is being tracked by Ed Woodward, along with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The German youngster has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest prospects and it is hardly surprising he has attracted the attention of a number of major clubs from around the world.
Ever since he broke into the first team from the academy ranks, the 20-year-old has dazzled the crowds at the BayArena, scoring 8 goals and creating 5 assists in 23 appearances in the Bundesliga for Peter Bosz’s side this season, taking 1.8 shots per game, averaging 2.2 key passes, and successfully completing 2.2 dribbles on average (via WhoScored).
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add to the growing pool of young talent at Old Trafford and the German international fits the profile he is looking for.
However, United are also leading the race to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer, ahead of Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, and it is unlikely the club will be able to afford both wonderkids when the transfer market opens. Indeed, Sancho is valued at a staggering £105.3m, while Havertz is priced at £72.9m via Transfermarkt.
Given the economic uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, it remains to be seen what deals can be made in the coming months.
As expected, many United fans reacted to the latest transfer link, with a supporter branding Havertz as “overrated,” and another insisting the board’s “priority is Sancho.” One fan even suggested he is the “German Dele Alli” in reference to the Tottenham Hotspur star.

He can never break into this Bayern team anytime soon, as a CAM he can’t, Muller is still in top form, and there is still goretzka and should Bayern sign coutinho permanently, he’s overrated pls

Tbh I’m not worried about any possible competition from other clubs. Barcalona can’t afford him & they have other priorities. Real Madrid is highly doubtful. Even Chelsea I doubt they’ll be able to afford Sancho. Just leaves us & why wouldn’t he wanna be part of summit special

Can’t see it happening imo. Priority is Sancho and it’s been clear for ages the club want Grealish as the creative midfielder.

No need of him tbh
