Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous headed goal against Sampdoria in Serie A recently, leaping to the heavens and burying a superbly timed effort, Manchester United supporters called back to another incredible jump back in 2007 against AS Roma in the Champions League.
Ronaldo’s heroics against Sampdoria have been doing the rounds on social media, with the Portuguese star seemingly always finding a new way to impress the footballing community – but these United fans have reminded everyone that the effort wasn’t his first time finding the net after an almighty jump.
Back in 2007, during United’s 2-1 away defeat to AS Roma, the former Red Devils ace planted a powerful header at the Stadio Olimpico despite the defeat.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side went on to destroy the Italian side at Old Trafford 7-1, sailing through to the next round of the Champions League before eventually going out to AC Milan thanks to a Kaka masterclass.
