Manchester United believe Barcelona flop Ousmane Dembele could be a cheaper alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
Sancho is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target in the summer, as he is Borussia Dortmund’s top scorer this season.
According to The Athletic, via @utdreport, Man United are trying to restrict their spending in the transfer window, although they do have funds set aside for Sancho.
However, the Red Devils are ready to look at other options if a move doesn’t come to fruition, and Dembele is viewed as a less expensive alternative.
The future looked bright for the Barca winger but the £135m signing has been on a downhill spiral this season. He has only played nine games in all competitions so far, as he has struggled with persistent injury.
A recurring hamstring injury has seen him miss the majority of the season and the 23-year-old seems to be heading towards a Nou Camp exit.
Barca are dealing with their own financial problems and Dembele could be considered surplus to requirements.
Unsurprisingly, many United fans slammed the latest transfer link, with a supporter branding him as “deadwood,” while another added the news “must be a joke.” One fan even labelled the update as “nonsense” in light of his injury history.
