Manchester United have been left impressed by Stuttgart midfielder Chema Andres after sending scouts to watch the player. The 20-year-old has impressed for Stuttgart after joining the club from Real Madrid last summer.
Andres came through the ranks at Madrid, and made three senior appearances before moving to Germany. Stuttgart paid just £2m for his services over the summer and he has gone on to become an integral part of the side.
He has made 17 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring one goal and adding two assists from midfield. The Spain U-21 international has draw comparisons to two of his compatriots, namely Sergio Busquets and Rodri.
The latter in particular has been the name attached to his play style, with many calling Andres “the new Rodri.” TeamTalk has reported that United, alongside Manchester City, Arsenal, and Newcastle have all scouted the player extensively.
Any deal for the player will be complicated however, as former club Real Madrid have a buyback clause worth £10m.
United keen on Chema Andres

United are known to be planning a midfield rebuild next summer. The futures of several senior midfielders including Casemiro, Mason Mount, and Manuel Ugarte continue to be in doubt.
Interim manager Michael Carrick has reintegrated Kobbie Mainoo into the side, with the player having falling out of favour under previous manager Ruben Amorim. Mainoo remains highly rated inside Old Trafford and is expected to be one of the main pieces the squad is built around.
Andres has been added to the shortlist of midfielders Untited are known to be targeting. This list is also believed to include Andres’ Stuttgart teammate Angelo Stiller as well Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
United are now firmly in the driver’s seat for a Champions League finish after defeating Crystal Palace at the weekend. They now sit in third place in the Premier League table, level on points with fourth place Aston Villa and three points ahead of Liverpool in fifth.
