Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are encouraged after the Daily Mirror reported that they are favourites to land PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay.
The Dutch international has been rated at £15m following his impressive performances in the Eredivisie.
Liverpool and Tottenham previously saw their bids rejected last summer after they pursued the 21-year-old international.
But despite the lack of luck for English in the past, sources close to Depay have suggested that United are front-runners for his signature.
Punters expect Louis van Gaal to be handed another heavy wad of cash as he looks to turn things around at Old Trafford and Depay is likely to be one of the first few players through the door.
Van Gaal knows him very well from his time as Holland head coach but Depay has gone onto the next level since the World Cup having scored 21 goals in 31 games for club and country.
