Some Manchester United fans have been blasting Marcus Rashford for his display in his side’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City in the Premier League.
Although the England international did manage to get himself on the scoresheet after being put through by Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the first half to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team the lead, he also missed a big chance to score in the opening minutes of the game.
Is Rashford an important player for Manchester United?
His overall performance was not the best, aside from the goal, as he racked up a pretty measly 6.5 overall rating on Sofascore, which was one of the lowest out of any of his teammates to have set foot on the pitch.
The 23-year-old also only managed a mere 37 touches in the whole game, and failed to record a single key pass or cross, while losing possession of the ball no fewer than 13 times in the match (Sofascore).
Manchester United fan reaction to Rashford display
These members of the Old Trafford faithful blasted the performance of Rashford on Twitter, with one Red Devil branding his finishing as ‘poor’:
“James has not been playing well, so weak on the ball, Martial and Rashford lack commitment, Greenwood/Mata/VanDB + Cavani would do justice #LEIMUN”
“Those boys keep costing us points with their shocking misses. We want wins, not draws.”
“Rashford could have easily scored an hat-trick today but his finishing let him down once again. We really need to buckle up defensively else it will cost us vital points and affect our chances of winning the title. #LEIMUN #GGMU”
“Not only his finishing today. Wasn’t interested for the majority of the match. Same as Martial. If he’s not involved he won’t go and get involved and make it happen. Becomes a passenger. Cavani does and you can see the effect he has on the side”
“Nah his finishing was poor today. No excuse to not hit the target with his header.”
“Rashford finishing is awful and not because of today”
